2021-04-17-Pastor Ko’s Update

April 15, 2021

The following was voice recorded by Pastor Ko. Thanks to a sister who transcribed it.

I had an appointment with the doctor on March 22nd Because the appointment was early in the morning, we arrived a day earlier. Thank the Lord that a very loving couple welcomed us to stay at their home. Having a young child at the house and the wife expecting, this couple received us out of their love for the Lord and we appreciate them very much. At the appointment, the doctor said that my draining tube could be removed. Thanks to the Lord, with the draining tube having been removed, life is much easier. No more cleaning procedure makes walking even more comfortable.

On April 5 I went to see the cancer surgeon. Thanks to the Lord, my wife drove me back and forth in a one-day trip to St. Louis The doctor was quite satisfied with the progress of my recovery because everything looks good, and my diet has been more nutritious and balanced. So, he decided that the supplement via feeding tube could be suspended and that the tube could be removed if I haven’t lost more than two pounds when I return for my next appointment in May. Thank the Lord for such unexpected news and amazing grace of God. Thanks also to the brothers and sisters for praying for me.  I was grateful when the doctor agreed to reduce the feeding tube time from 12 hours to eight hours in my last visit. And I did not expect that the doctor would decide that the use of a feeding tube could be suspended in such a short time Please continue to pray for me, that by the grace of God, I will not lose weight. Then the feeding tube can be removed in May as planned.

Thank the Lord for giving me added strength so that I can serve Him on both Good Friday and Easter. We had a special meeting commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Friday evening. And by the grace of the Lord, I could conduct the Lord’s Supper which was the first time after my major surgery. Thanks be to the Lord that I also was able to preach a sermon on Resurrection Sunday in person which was also the first time since the surgery.  Praise the Lord for sustaining me with His resurrection power that I could stand before the congregation and deliver a one-hour message.  It really was by the power of the Lord that not only was I able to stand and speak, but also speak with strength.  We are weak, but the Lord is strong.  Those who trust the Lord are not only blessed but can also be used by the Lord. Psalm 125:1-2 “Those who trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever.  As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.  No matter what difficulties or diseases we are facing, look up to God.  As we continue to rely on God, He is the resurrected Lord, and His resurrection power will enable us to remain unshakable. Thanks be to the Lord for in Him we will always have hope of victory!
